Nothing Comes as Easy as Nothing 6
Where there had once been broken glass and broken pictures; upturned
furniture and blood on the walls; and an angry silence that always followed
a confrontation of one sort or another; there was now the happy chatter of
friends; empty boxes that had had once held a Pizza or two and a glass for
each one of them, full to the brim, with their chosen drink.
Xander leant forward until he held his glass in his hand, then he held it up
in front of him and said, "To Giles..."
The chatter died in an instant, as one by one they thought of what *could*
have happened, but then also of how all of them, together, had stopped it
from happening. On that, the laughter was back again and they each leant
forward, 'clinked' their glass against Xander's and repeated the phrase...
"So, Spike," Xander suddenly announced around a mouthful of Orange Juice,
"Didn't see you come back with the lead Vamp... Something happen...?" he
added slyly and with a grin.
Spike shrugged at that, but admitted with distaste, "Ya know, it's pratts
like tha', tha' give us Vampires a bad name... What a wuss... 'Ad 'im
beggin, would ya believe it..."
As the laughter rose again, Oleecia stood and started to make her way to the
kitchen. "Anyone else want something...?" she asked. They all declined,
except Xander, who wanted another Juice. She smiled at him and then left the
room.

"I haven't exactly been 'Miss, I'll give her a chance then, Giles...' have
I...?"
Oleecia spilt Xander's drink onto the counter. She hadn't expected anyone to
come out to her, and who had, had surprised her. Still, she turned away from
the mess she'd made and admitted, "You could say the same for me too,
Buffy..."
"Yeah, but it takes someone first, and I think I beat you hands down for
that..."
Oleecia giggled. She couldn't help it. She'd seen that this could take the
rest of the evening up. She, taking the blame from Buffy, and visa-versa.
"You know," she said, "we could bounce this around all night. I don't mind,
but I'd rather have some fun..."
Buffy giggled herself. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Shall we just admit that
we were both wrong and tell Giles in the morning that we're friends...?"
Oleecia looked down at her hands. It might have looked as though she was
contemplating what Buffy had said, but she wasn't really. She'd just felt
her heart warm at the thought. Friends with the Slayer. She briefly wondered
what her Brother and Sister might have thought about it. They probably would
have thought she was telling tall stories again and would have laughed it
away. 'Wonder what they think now...?' she thought. She then looked up into
Buffy's eyes, hoping to see the truth there. After a moment she nodded, and
with a smile, she said, "I'd like that..."
Once Oleecia had cleaned the floor where the spilt Orange Juice had fallen,
she and Buffy re-entered the fray called a Post-Slayage party, with an arm
about each other.
And then they joined in the laughter... Together...
